Arthur Francis Horner (Athlete)
Born 25/08/1914
Arthur was introduced to lacrosse by his older brother (Harold) and he played his first games at the age of sixteen in the Midland Junction A Grade team.

The Midland Junction Lacrosse Club dominated in all grades during the late 1930s and late 1940s winning the A Grade Premierships in 1935, 1937, 1939, 1946 to1949 and again in 1951.

Arthur was the A Grade captain and considered the cornerstone of the remarkably successful Midland club during the 1930s and 1940s.
His Senior Western Australian State team years were 1935,1936,1938,1939 then World War Two interrupted his lacrosse career. On the return to playing interstate lacrosse in 1947 he was vice captain of the Western Australian team which won the Australian Senior Men’s Lacrosse Championship.
This was the first time Western Australia had won such an event.
His final year in the Western Australian Lacrosse Association Senior team was in 1950.
Twice All-Australian Team selection at Australian Championship Carnivals in 1939 and 1947 and awarded the Best on Ground when Western Australia played Victoria in 1935 then Fairest and Best player when Western Australia played South Australia in 1938 and 1939 are highlights of an outstanding lacrosse playing career.
